Pauline Gough - NZ

Matakana artist, Pauline Gough, is a self taught expressive painter and has been painting and exhibiting prolifically since 2010.
Raised on a farm and married to a (retired) farmer, Pauline's signature cow portraits are a popular subject, along with her large expressive landscapes and florals.
Pauline's painterly artworks are largely painted from memory. A reference photo may be a starting point but will often be abandoned halfway through the painting process to avoid being controlled by colour and a likeness at the expense of freedom of expression and a spirited approach. Often, her paintings are painted alla prima in a deliberate attempt to keep the art fresh and lively and not overworked.
Pauline was official artist for Tour of New Zealand 2015, 2017 and 2019. This entailed painting 2 cyclist themed paintings a day for 7 days, while traveling the length of the North Island. Her popular paintings were all auctioned and sold for charity at the end of each race.
Pauline's works are held in private collections in NZ and around the world.
